When creating your first professional CV there are more often than not a hundred questions running through your mind, what do I include? Which skills should I concentrate on? How should I format it? Intern Avenue are here to answer these questions for you, and to provide expert advice on the basic components of a CV. We’ve also created a CV template example to help you on your way to landing your dream internship!

Let’s start with the basics, your CV should essentially illustrate your interests, skills, achievements and experience. However before you write down every single interest you’ve ever had, read the internship job description thoroughly and tailor your CV to fit the role that you’re applying for.

Begin your CV with a brief and concise personal statement, explaining who you are, what you can offer the company and your key skills. Then move onto your education, for many this will be the focal point of your CV, as the majority of graduates don’t have heaps of work experience under their belts. Don’t worry about this, employers are more interested in your academic merits and future potential.
