Engie, on the outset, is a large multi-national conglomerate providing energy solutions through its electricity, natural gas and energy services. What is not well known is that of Engie’s 155,000 worldwide employees, 10,000 are members of [email protected], the Group’s internal innovation hub.
The Innovation Hub
Since [email protected]’s launch in 2014 employees have submitted over 450 ideas to improve energy efficiency from smart solutions for decentralised production to alternative transportation methods. Opening their doors to entrepreneurs in October 2015 expanded Engie’s innovation hub; over 230 employees responded to requests for expertise in the first few weeks.
Energy and Climate Change
As you would expect, however, there is a commercial agenda. Climate change forces rethinking of production and consumption modes, energy and digital technologies play a key role to reconcile universal access to safe and competitive energy coupled with the protecting our environment.
