Law Internships: A Handy List of Firms That Offer Them

Are you looking for law internships or vacation schemes?

We thought we’d be nice and put a handy list together for you. We have only included paid internships, with the average scheme paying around £350/week. Most firms run a 2 week internship in the summer, with some also offering Spring and Winter schemes, and applications tend to open at the start of October. This list is not exhaustive, but should give you a good idea of the opportunities that are out there for you on your journey to become a solicitor.

Ashurst run two four week summer legal internships and a one week winter scheme
Baker & McKenzie runs 2-3 week schemes in both Spring and Summer
Berwin Leighton Paisner offer law internships in the summer and winter, both in London
Bird & Bird run three-week legal internships every summer, open to any students and graduates
Browne Jacobson offer summer legal internships in their Nottingham and Birmingham offices
Burges Salmon have offices in London and Bristol with opportunities to work in either
Cleary Gottlieb run one of the highest paying legal internships, offering £500 per week.
Clifford Chance run two law summer internships every year
Dechert run spring and summer internships, with great socials and team building events included
Dentons have one-week law summer internships in both London and Milton Keynes
DLA Piper offer law summer internships UK-wide, as well as Spring placements in Leeds and London
DWF run easter and summer legal internships, with applications opening in October
Fieldfisher offers two-week legal internships, at Easter or in the Summer
Foot Anstey law internships close for applications in April 2017
Hogan Lovells offer 70 places for their programmes, running in Winter, Spring and Summer
Latham & Watkins offer summer vacation schemes with applications opening in October
Mills & Reeve law summer internships take place over two weeks in a number of cities and are open to penultimate year and final year law students, final year non-law students and graduates.
Norton Rose Fulbright’s law internships are open to penultimate year undergraduates, finalists and graduates
Olswang offer just 20 places for their Summer legal internships in London
PwC Legal has a three-week law summer internship
Shearman & Sterling offer two week vacation schemes in December, April, June and July
Sidley Austin LLP has two-week vacation schemes in spring and summer
Skadden’s two-week placements take place over Easter and the Summer, and they let you choose one area to practice in
Stephenson Harwood offers two-week placements in winter, spring and summer
Taylor Wessing have 40 places a year for their vacation schemes
Withers LLP offers one-to-two week legal internships in April and July

Many firms also offer Open days and Campus Representative positions, which could put you a step ahead of the competition when it comes to applying for their law internships. (You can never be too keen..)
