I am a diligent, confident and enthusiastic individual who is looking for a dynamic internship with real responsibility and a friendly culture. I am a quick learner and eager to experience new things - whether that be academically, professionally or culturally.
Studying history at university has equipped me with numerous transferable skills, particularly my ability to communicate, analyse and present information in a concise yet engaging manner. My final year dissertation about confectionery companies of the twentieth century won me the Baxter Prize for Local History, of which I am particularly proud. This was a 12,000 word essay that tackled primary material that had never been analysed before, and required great perseverance, organisation and attention to detail. History has always been a subject that has fascinated me, and I am also passionate about inspiring that fascination in others. At college I was a leader of the History Society, putting on weekly presentations, activities and workshops for other students.
My varied work experience in various sectors highlights my flexibility and ability to communicate with a range of different people, from C-level delegates, to international business executives, to project coordinators. My recent experience in marketing and events has cemented my determination to build a career with communication at its heart. I thoroughly enjoyed using social and digital media, as well as playing a pivotal part in coordinating a successful corporate event. I believe I would fit into any team well; I am proactive and enthusiastic at all times. I was required to be flexible and often entertaining as a Holiday Club coach, as well as work seamlessly as part of a team.
I am passionate about travel and sampling new ways of life. Since graduating I spent 5 week interrailing around Europe, as well as 4 months in South East Asia. During college I was also lucky enough to be one of twenty students picked to visit our link school in Ghana, where we partook in traditional African activities and project work. I am therefore eager to work for a company that is global in its outlook and reach.
I have always enjoyed drama and dance, which has helped to vastly increase my confidence and presentation skills. I have partaken in numerous dance and theatre productions, including Global Rock Challenge, Blue Remembered Hills and my University's annual dance production. I was a member of both Birmingham University Dance and Ballroom Dance societies, highlighting my passion for exploring new genres and styles. Whilst at university I also took the opportunity to sample different sports such as windsurfing and skiing.
