███████ ███████'s CV

For as long as I can remember I have always had a desire for knowledge. I have been awarded a 2:1 in Economics with Econometrics from the University of Kent. It is through my studies here that sparked my interest in the relationship between economics and the environment. Throughout my studies I have faced many academic disappointments with my final marks, however despite these pitfalls I have not shied away from the challenges that this degree has confronted me with. But rather it has inspired me to work harder and push myself to keep going, which is one reason why I chose to write a dissertation in my final year. My dissertation analyses how the 5p plastic bag charge has impacted consumer behavior. The analysis focuses on basic statistical methods and also a Probit and Logit model were used to examine the effects of socioeconomic characteristics on consumers’ choice to purchase a plastic bag when food shopping. Overall, I found that since the implementation of the charge 80% of my sample do not purchase plastic bags but rather bring their own. Of course these findings are subject to debate due to common issues such as survey design, sample size and selectivity bias.

I chose to enhance my university of experience by joining the Women’s Football Club. Not only have I been an active member, attending every training session and match (whether playing or just supporting) but also holding the role of Vice-Chairwoman for two consecutive years. My role at the Club has been mainly administrative, by helping the Chairwoman with a variety of tasks such as team sheets, arranging transport and officials for matches. Over the past two years, the Club has grown tremendously not only in size but also in their achievements. This year the Clubs successes were awarded at the annual Team Kent Awards, where we won the Outstanding Team Achievement Award for continous improvements and outstanding performance. Additionally, the Club was also short-listed for other awards highlighting other administrative and competitive achievements.
