I have had a range of office experience in industries such as talent management and property lettings, however I soon hope to establish a career in PR and/or Marketing, where I can utilise my organisational prowess, my creative mindset and my analytical nature. Following my return from six months travelling, I attended a Guardian masterclass in events management, in order to learn more about the industry and gain planning tips and tricks. Since then I have undertaken a PR & Marketing internship with luxury accessories brand Lulu Guinness, where I was introduced to an industry that I wish to continue in.
I consider it testament to my dedication and ability as a team member that I was re-employed for five consecutive summers at Home Leasing letting agents. Here, I demonstrated my worth as someone who is organised and can multi-task effectively, as I was given new and varying tasks each year, resulting in a heavy yet rewarding workload. These tasks ranged from effective diary management, contract creation and tenancy application monitoring to supporting the accounts department with processing payments and invoices. I handled difficult calls and complaints daily and feel comfortable building rapport and managing challenging situations. I went on to start an internship with Lou Coulson Associates, where I supported the team of agent's in their day to day endeavours; planning and booking travel, accommodation and tickets, creating detailed itineraries, monitoring press coverage and editing footage on iMovie amongst other duties. I was required to be independently up to date with the industry current affairs and to read or watch relevant material, which I thoroughly enjoyed and aided my learning in this role immensely.
In my role at Lulu Guinness, I was supporting both the PR, Marketing, and Social Media teams. Here, I assisted on a variety of events and photo shoots, and managed press samples and send outs, liaising with press on a day to day basis. I would be required to support photoshoot preparation and assist with visual merchandising, and I certainly hope to explore the more analytical side of marketing at some stage.
As an English and Philosophy graduate, I have developed a clear and cogent writing style, and I am happy researching and analysing a variety of topics. This degree calls for the individual to be not only creative and dedicated, but an independent thinker who is always challenging their thoughts and ideas. I believe this skill can translate into excellence in a working environment; hoping to push myself to have effective and creative ideas that work. I also completed an internship with Leeds University that saw me researching on social media to make recommendations for our own accounts, and creating website maps in order to analyse effectiveness and suggest improvements, where I feel I got to use some of my degree skills in a professional capacity.
