Background

I am a recent graduate of the University of Leicester, where I attained First Class Honours in Politics. I am now currently seeking a new and exciting opportunity to develop and build my career with an organisation that values integrity, responsibility and results.

Politics has always been a passion of mine and my transition through higher education has developed this from being solely interest based into more of an analytical and enquiring interest and skill set. When deciding to go to university, I set myself the personal challenge of achieving the best possible result and maximising the value of the opportunity that it presented to me. Having always had a keen awareness in world, social and political affairs I selected a politics degree because the range of modules available afforded the opportunity to explore in detail many aspects of world affairs in partnership with leading academic thinkers, who were developing challenging interpretations and propositions. This dynamic environment enabled me to sustain a high level of engagement and input throughout my course to achieve my objective of a First Class Honours degree.

My time at university has not just been dominated by only academic achievement but also playing of sport in many teams, such as the rugby team. I also participated regularly in the voluntary debates held on current affairs to broaden my knowledge and engage with others of varying opinion, which, given the seismic changes underway within the UK political order, meant my time at the University of Leicester was both highly stimulating and pertinent to emerging political and social landscape

While having these key academic traits I also possess notable working experience, having spent three years working for John Lewis PLC (Waitrose) and two years specifically on their highly respected Student Transfer Programme. My time spent on the Waitrose Student Transfer programme was useful to my development for many reasons, firstly it gave me notable experience of working in a wider team to support one and achieve positive goals, experience which is vital in any industry due to the importance of working within a wider collaborative team to ensure that all output is to the highest standard. Being on the Student Transfer programme also gave me some wider experience of commercial activity and advertising in its most raw state.
