I am Psychology graduate from the University of Westminster. During my studies, I required numerous skills. This multi-disciplinary approach has provided a large scope of psychology which enhances my critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills by seeing things from multiple perspectives. Assessments in psychology included presentations and group discussions which developed my communication and team-working skills. Furthermore, there is a primary emphasis on written work composing of critical reviews, scientific reports, bibliographies and exams. Skills like self-management, planning, collecting, analysing data, forming thought out conclusions and find data to support the conclusion are gained by these assessments. I am very computer literate and able to use the majority of ICT with ease. A Research Methods module allows me to get accustomed to computer software such as the Microsoft Package. Also the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences allowed my mathematical skills to grow by making calculations, drawing conclusions about the data and visually presenting the data.
My most recent employment is at Tapestry’s Dementia Advisory Service as an Assistant Dementia Advisor. I have applied a person-centred approach in providing ongoing support, information and advice to carers of individuals with dementia. I have interpersonal skills by working in partnership with other agencies as well as other health and social care professionals to meet the holistic needs of the service users. I abide by the procedures and policies of Tapestry including the Data Protection Act 1998, ensuring that safety and security of both service users and clients. I developed leadership skills by facilitating a carers support groups, guided information groups and providing care for the ‘cared for’ groups. I developed my record keeping skills by ensuring that my case notes are accurately recorded and the service user’s files are updated. I developed my organisational skills by aiding arrangement of promotional events in the community.
My longest employment is Sainsbury’s as a Check out operator and Groceries Online Shopper. I worked in a fast-paced retail environment where flexibility and multi-tasking skills are required. I learnt customer service skills while assisting clients with their queries in a friendly and polite manner. I am able to redirect customer’s inquiries to other sources if I was unable to assist e.g. discussing Sainsbury’s Banking. Furthermore, I learned about abiding by the Health and Safety practices of the store to ensure a safe working environment.
I have experience in direct marketing as a professional fundraiser for Archway Advertising. I developed time keeping skills and goal setting skills to be able to make the required number of sales within a week. I acquired account managing skills while dealing with donor’s sensitive information in an informed and safe way. I developed a good rapport with donors ensuring that are happy with their donation scheme which increases the likelihood of them donating to the charity for the long-term.
