██████ ██████'s CV

I am writing to apply for the Energy Operations Management Trainee Programme, as advertised on the University of Edinburgh Careers Page. I enclose my CV for your consideration. I am currently working towards my MEng in Mechanical Engineering with Management at the University. I am seeking a graduate role in the Energy sector, which will combine aspects of technical engineering knowledge with management theory and skills to build on experience gained during my degree. The Operations Management Trainee Programme appears to offer exactly this and I believe I have a lot to bring to the role.
The nature of my course has prepared me for the diversity of the programme. It has included a great deal of independent project work, requiring initiative, problem solving skills and self-motivation as well as several group projects which have developed my communication, project planning and negotiation skills. For example, as part of one course, Operations Management 4, an individual project to analyse the operations of a functioning timber pallet manufacturing site was undertaken. I found this particular project and subject very interesting as it tested practical and technical learning as well as applied management theory.
In addition to the wide range of courses which required individual study, my degree also provided the opportunity to work collaboratively as part of several teams. One course, Sustainable Energy Group Design Project 3, required working together as part of a six-person team to carry out a design and build of a mirco-wind turbine. I contributed positively and really enjoyed the challenge of working in a team. Through my extracurricular interests and work experiences, I have also demonstrated my ability to take on a leadership role and add value as a team player by working effectively with a wide variety of people. I believe this exposure to a diverse range of work environments has significantly developed my leadership, communication and relationship building skills that are very relevant to the trainee programme with ENGIE and I would hope to build upon.
I am passionate about working in the energy sector, particularly with renewables and I believe the trainee programme at ENGIE offers this opportunity. I want to work for a company where I can develop my knowledge and skills so that in time, I add real value to the organisation and I have a genuine impact in addressing the energy challenge and reducing CO2 emission. Having a role in helping to fight climate change would be extremely rewarding for me.
I hold a full UK driving license and am adaptable and willing to relocate anywhere in the UK. I am available to attend an interview. I can be contacted on 07855942179 or on:[email protected]
Yours sincerely,
Elliot Hunter
