Background

Review of my qualifications will confirm that I am a highly talented graduate, with a strong concentration in economics and finance. In addition, I have completed numerous assignments underpinned by rigorous quantitative and market analysis. My area of expertise predominantly lies in macroeconomic and financial modelling. I actually received one of the highest grades in macroeconomics and international finance during the final year of my BSc. Entailing from this success, I interned at a boutique investment management firm in Shanghai, China, in macroeconomic research. I learnt to stay ahead of global market dynamics and identify investment opportunities focusing on commodities (crude oil) and FX (USD/JPY). I had to interpret and forecast market trends; analysing various economic and financial indicators to extrapolate investment decisions. I also provided support to the business development team in market analysis and marketing strategy development. I was a critical part of researching and developing a sound marketing strategy, creating and writing service related articles, blogs and planning the most effective method to reach new clients.

Equally important, I pride myself in managing my family restaurant. Since inception in 2011, I have prioritised between academia and the business, which not only exhibits my strong work ethic and multi-tasking skills, but also my inherent desire to support businesses to increase their value. I get actively involved in any area of the business that needs my help in order for smooth operation. This may be at the bar creating cocktails, persuading customers to try an adventurous dish or at back helping the chef.

From a managerial perspective, I am often called upon to make both minor and major decisions in the workplace to resolve any imminent problems. Thereby, needing myself to assess the situation, weigh the pros and cons of various approaches, and make an educated and informed decision that is beneficial to all parties. Teamwork is a vital component in the restaurant industry and such joined efforts are immensely tested during times of heavy bookings. We communicate effectively and help each other to achieve our ultimate objective of customer satisfaction.

On the technical side, I apply my knowledge gained from academia and thorough independent research to analyse financial reports of the business. I monitor various financial metrics such as activity and profitably ratios to scrutinise business performance. My focus is also distributed to promotional activities and devising strategies to increase sales and competitiveness. Having entrepreneurial zest, I enjoy the process of driving a business forward and I aim to translate the same success I have had with the family business to you.
