Background

I am a hardworking, highly organized, dynamic, Canadian who is looking to expand my experience, meet challenges, and acquire knowledge to further my progress in life. I have a Bachelor of Design, with a major in photography from the Alberta College of Arts and Design in Canada, graduating with Honours. After university, I decided to travel in order to further understand people of various cultural backgrounds. Travelling independently has allowed me to not only know others but to know myself through: introspection; dealing with the challenges of solo travel including navigating new cultures, currency and languages; overcoming some stereotypes that were learned while growing up, increasing my tolerance of others’ belief systems; and practicing my people skills, both verbal and non-verbal. I have an interest in non-verbal communication and its impact on perception. Due to my travels, my work experiences have been varied. As a server, customer service was a highlighted area; therefore, my people skills had to be honed to deal with the varied customer base which ranged from very respectful clientele to very inebriated individuals who needed to be removed from the premises. I was able to handle any situation that came my way, even ones that I had never encountered before. Therefore, I am able to think quickly and problem solve using a variety of strategies. I have managed a fairly large staff, including scheduling and training, in a couple of different establishments. I was also responsible for large amounts of money and am bondable. My skill set also includes: an advanced knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, with a working knowledge of the rest of Adobe Creative Suite and experience with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. I am a very dedicated employee putting in more than 100%; my motto is “if you are going to do a job, do it well”. I am friendly, approachable, enthusiastic, and competent.
