Dear HR Manager,

I am writing in response to your advertisement on the careers website. I have a Bachelor’s degree of in Business and Management (Marketing) and a history of successful marketing projects which were completed at University.
I am confident my experience on working on marketing projects at University and at work have given me the ability to produce high-quality academic written materials on a timely basis which could provide value and benefit to your workforce.
My previous role as a Market Research analyst at AkzoNobel was to develop and provide category and customer actionable insight that drives the development of propositions matching the needs of UK primary and secondary education state-funded establishments. By developing a deep understanding of the Education specifier, I delivered quantitative research including School performance versus budget, School’s funding and budget spend and the effect of construction/refurbishment projects on School’s achievements. This role enabled me to develop market research skills, advanced data analytical capability, utilising and linking a broad range of data sources.
I also developed a detailed understanding of existing research on colour in the environment and the wider commercial environment from a variety of sources (including literature, university and government-led research) and presenting key findings back to the core team. As a result of this, I developed the ability to draw relevant insights and conclusions and identified commercial opportunities and threats that exist for the business at both strategic and tactical level.
My marketing dissertation's purpose was to investigate the influence of social media involvement and brand trust on male and female consumers when purchasing cosmetic brands. The aim of the research investigated whether consumers take notice of peers activity and whether that activity influences a consumer to trust the cosmetic brand and purchase it. In regard an online survey was conducted on Facebook users, 358 users participated in this survey which had been open for 2 months on the relevant webpage www.smartsurvey.co.uk. Hypotheses which were proposed within the framework of the research model were tested with structural equation modelling.
Working at In-Time Watch Services Ltd for two years I have developed strong interpersonal skills by working with colleagues across functions, cultures and at different levels within the business. This role enabled me to work in a team, and helped me develop strong project management skills, telephone skills, emailing customers and being more confident in inspiring change and being innovative which highly improved sales performance throughout the year.
