██████ ██████'s CV

I have always been enthusiastic about language; as an undergraduate studying English Language and Literature most of my time is spent either reading or writing, and I enjoy writing in different styles ranging from the academic to the journalistic. My freelance work for the Times Literary Supplement and Culturefly.co.uk has allowed me to pursue my interests in a number of different areas, including literature, theatre, film, and television. I am mostly interested in print and online media, but I have some experience of broadcast journalism from working on the news team of my local commercial radio station during my school holidays over the course of two years. Because the station was so small I was able to gain a lot of hands on experience. For example, I was allowed to record news and entertainment bulletins for broadcast from my first day in the studio, and this opportunity gave me a great insight into the workings of the station as I was involved in the production of short audio segments throughout the process, from writing to sound editing.

In my spare time I pursue extra-curricular activities that allow me to meet new people with whom I share a common interest. In my role as President of the Poetry Society at St Catherine's College, Oxford, I have been responsible for organising a number of successful events for my fellow students, for example a poetry reading in November 2013 with performance poet Anthony Anaxagorou. I was responsible for every element of the organisation for this event, from booking the speaker and venue to obtaining funding from the college authorities and promoting the event via online social media.

I have recently been offered a place on a fast-track NCTJ Diploma in Journalism beginning in mid-September, but I am interested in taking on a short internship or work experience placement (of three months or less) over the summer, before the course begins. I look forward to utilising the skills I have gained from my experiences as I enter the world of work.
