Background

I am currently a second year chemical engineering student of University College London.

I wish to gain experience with a company that allows growth from hands on experiences under the supervision of highly skilled professionals. I believe I have the enthusiasm, problem solving and communication skills required to excel in a professional setting. In the summer of 2012, I worked as an assistant project manager in the marketing department of ShoNet, a software company. The company was looking for ways to reach more clients without incurring big costs. I proposed to my manager, the idea of using social media platforms, as it is a cheap and readily available way of reaching clients. I devised, organized and managed a social media competition. At the end of my internship my efforts had led to a 20% increase in the patronage of the social media platforms by clients. Later on during my internship, I was delegated the task to create a detailed marketing strategy with fixed deadlines for specifics tasks and to carry them out in accordance to the deadlines. I prioritized my tasks, divided my working hours and designated actions to them accordingly. I was able to keep to this strict routine and re-adjustments when necessary. At the end of my two weeks, I had completed all of my tasks in accordance to their respective deadlines and exceeded my expectations. My communication skills, enthusiasm, perseverance, strategic planning, ability to make realistic goals and ability to improvise, all worked together to help me preform well throughout the duration of my internship.

At university while working with groups for projects, I utilize my communicative skills to keep the group focused and working harmoniously. I keep the group well informed by regularly sending emails whilst building a good working relationship. In the event of ideas clashing, I use my ability to empathize with individuals to reach compromises and ensure our continuous progress. As a result of this dedication and hard work I have been able to consistently achieved good grades in my course. Through the duration of my course, I have enlisted in a number of extra curricular activities, such a UCL Boat Club, running a blog and being member of the African Caribbean Society committee. I managed my participation whilst maintaining good grades Through these experiences I have been able to develop myself and create a good sense of responsibility that I believe would help me thrive in a cooperate setting.

I believe I possess the required abilities and attitude necessary to be successful in the high-pressured and fast paced professional setting. I now look forward to exhibiting and sharpening these attributes, if I am given this opportunity . Thank you for your kind consideration of my application. I look forward to hearing from you.
