Background

I have recently graduated from the University of Gloucestershire with a Sports Coaching Hons (Bsc) Degree and I am now looking for a new experience that will allow me to continue to learn and develop my knowledge and gain experience within a successful business. I have had to change my career plan due to a sporting injury and now would like an opportunity to transfer my skills into an office environment. I am a self-motivated, productive colleague who enjoys being an active team member supporting the rest of the team. Throughout my degree course I used many computer programs, gaining proficiency in Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. I am organised, confident and determined; qualities which have ensured that I have met deadlines, arranged and attended meetings and developed my knowledge and communication skills, both written and verbal.

Before going to University, I successfully studied a wide range of subjects at school, including success in the core subjects of Maths, English and Science. In addition, I also studied Business at GCSE and at A level, which gave me greater insight and understanding of marketing, advertising and business structures. Whilst at school I also completed a work placement within Kent County Council, which helped me develop skills and how to work professionally and effectively in an office environment.

During summer of 2013 I worked at Lake Greeley Summer Camp in Pennsylvania, USA as a camp counsellor. The role involved teaching various sporting activities during the day and entertaining the children in the evening. Although this was a demanding role, working long hours and requiring a positive, “can do” attitude throughout the day and night, it was a rewarding experience. The job bought me into contact with children from many different countries, with different traditions and cultures and even some who couldn’t speak English and therefore camp was an incredible and invaluable experience in communicating, problem – solving and teamwork. I am proud that the camp owner asked me to return again for this year, which I believe shows that I am was reliable, competent, hardworking and trustworthy.

Since 2008 and to the present day, I have held a part time job as a waitress at a local Golf Club in Upchurch, Kent working in the Poolside Bar and in the restaurant. This involves not only serving customers, but also working on the till, working behind the bar, answering general phone enquires and taking bookings. From 2010, I became a secondary supervisor assisting with delegating roles, teaching new colleagues, managing customer queries and helping to lock up the building. When special events are taking place, being able to work under pressure and to tight schedules is essential.
