Background

As a second year Chemistry student, I thrive on challenges and opportunities to use all the skills I have developed during my university studies. Learning an intensive core science has thoroughly prepared me for my professional career since it has required hard work, persistence and only the highest standards of work, and this will be applied throughout my future career.

Through playing 2nd XI senior school hockey, I have demonstrated high levels of responsibility, reliability and being able to effectively work within a team. Being a fast paced and high intensity sport, it was imperative that I communicated effectively with my team to ensure we played the strongest game we could. I also learnt how to make quick, decisions under pressure and believe having this experience has allowed me to manage tasks effectively.

As an Assistant Tutor at Explore Learning, I demonstrated strong client focus skills and my adaptability to new situations. For every child, I had to adapt and tailor my teaching methods since every child learns in different ways. Not only was I educating children from all backgrounds and of all ages, but also liaised and provided feedback to parents. Through good communication with parents, I was able to build strong relationships with them and together we were able to provide the most suitable education for every child.

Creative problem solving and learning how to use my initiative are skills I have been able to develop through teaching myself Apple’s iOS programming languages Objective C and Swift. Being unsupported in learning these languages has greatly enhanced my ability to achieve results independently and discover new ways to carry out tasks and overcome challenges.

From my university, academic and sporting experiences, I believe I’m well prepared for the professional business environment. I am determined to make the most of all opportunities I engage in and look forward to learning new skills and knowledge.
