RESPONSIBILITIES:The Manufacturing Engineering department is at the core of production, heavily involved in the running of the assembly process. Working under the guidance of a Senior Manufacturing Engineer.
The student will be required to lead improvement activities involved with the assembly process utilising Kaizen and Six Sigma techniques, with a specific focus on NPI (New Product Introduction) and tooling improvements.
The role will use and manage production databases to provide reports on key performance indicators.
The role will also support work activities driven by quality concerns and customer feedback.
All training relevant to the job role is provided. Training is aimed at improving and extending your skills and knowledge in the work environment.
Training will include but not restricted to engine familiarisation, statistical analysis, DC tool programming and Industrial Engineering techniques.
Softer skills are obtained throughout the year which consists of focusing on building confidence, increasing communication and negotiation skills, improving time management and creating team dynamics.
A comprehensive induction programme.
Individual training to suit particular business skills required by the business or identified by the candidate.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:As we offer an excellent opportunity for placement students to gain valuable experience it is essential that applicants:
Must have completed at least 2 years of a Manufacturing Engineering or Mechanical Engineering related sandwich degree.
Must be proficient in using Microsoft packages. It would be beneficial, but not essential, to have a working knowledge of Minitab, or another statistical package.
Are able to assimilate data to deliver clear and concise presentations.
Are able to work on their own initiative, self-motivate, and must have ability to work within a team.
Salary: 17,000 p.a.
